One plus no one equals the deafening silence of loneliness
As the void within seeks to dispel the burdening monotony
With another’s bright interjections of laughter
One plus no one is the absurdity of monochrome rainbows
The sorrow of a destitute wildflower clinging on to its final petal
The emptiness of knowing that out of billions not a single one chose you
One plus no one is less than I can hope for
One plus no one is more than I can bear
One plus no one is one too few
But one plus no one is just one away from forever becoming two
